Damn seagulls!

Duncan went back to bed for a nap so, naturally, that's when the seagulls showed up!  I called him to come look knowing he'd love watching them but as soon as he got out here, they took off!  This isn't the first time they've done this, either!  Seems like they know when he's not in the window and they deliberately show up to make me look like an idiot.  He came running in here to see what I was so excited about and when there were no birds, he gave me that disgusted look that clearly says "What the hell, Mom.  You KNOW I need my beauty sleep"!  Damn seagulls!  Never liked them anyway.

Not a happy little boy!

Duncan has been avoiding me for the last few hours.  But he looks SO handsome since he got brushed!  I didn't get to do a whole lot but 2 brushfulls of fur worked wonders!  Hopefully we won't have any more furballs now!

A tough day in Duncanville!

Poor Duncan!  He had a traumatic day today -- but I just HAD to clip his claws!  Its always a battle to get this done so I usually wait till they get a little longer than they probably should be but when he curls up on my chest for his nap and all I can feel is little daggers when he makes biscuits, it's got to be done!  Guess I'll wait till next week to brush him -- another nightmare for him to live through, at least in his book!  Such a poor, "abused" little kitty!  Who knew when he adopted me that he'd have to live through such horrors!

A special thank you to Aunt Jo and Uncle Bob!

Wow!  Its definitely been awhile!  But I just had to come here to thank my friends Jo and Bob for a wonderful evening!  We went to see The Hobbit - The Desolation of Smaug and then dinner at Applebees and I just had the most fabulous time!  Its also been awhile since I've seen Jo and Bob so that was the best part of the evening!  The movie was awesome -- did NOT expect that ending! -- and dinner was incredible but having time to sit and visit with good friends has to be one of life's special gifts.  And then having Duncan to come home to was icing on the cake!  He obviously missed me -- the longest I'm usually gone is an hour or two for nail, doctor or hair appointments and grocery shopping so for me to be gone for over 7 hours was a really long time!  He not only met me at the door and ran to the table for head butts and kisses when I came in, as soon as he gobbled his dinner down, he ran around the house hollering for about 10 minutes!  He's not usually that vocal -- I mean he talks to me all the time but rarely for that long!  So, all in all, a fabulous evening!  Thank you, Jo and Bob from both Duncan and me!  Love you guys!

My cat the asshat!

Just went into the bedroom to take my contacts out and get ready for bed so imagine my surprise when, once again, Duncan had emptied the contents of my bra drawer on the floor!  Little brat!  I've got rubber bands on all the kitchen cabinets because he likes to get inside them and just toss stuff out but there's no way to secure my dresser drawers -- I've tried! -- so every now and then he pulls one open and just pulls everything out and dumps it all on the floor and he's so quiet about it I never know till much later so its no good to scold him at that point!  On the few occasions that I've caught him in the act and hollered, he just looks at me like "What?  I'm having fun, mama!"  I've already emptied 3 drawers -- 2 in the bedroom and 1 in the kitchen -- so he can climb in and play there.  How many drawers does one cat need?!  He's lucky he's such a cutie pie or he'd be homeless again!

BAD mama!

Poor little Duncan!  He spent the night trapped in the closet in the spare bedroom!  With all the sorting and clearing out I've been doing, I've been in and out of that closet and USUALLY I'm very good about making sure he's not in there when I close the door but somehow or other I missed him yesterday.  I'm not sure how long he was in there simply because I can't remember when I was in there last, but when I went to bed last night he didn't come in for our snuggle time but that's not all that unusual since I've been giving him his ear drops -- some nights he's just too pissed to cuddle with me! -- but when I got up this morning and put his food out and he still didn't come running, I knew something was wrong!  I could hear meowing but it seemed so faint that at first I thought it was a cat outside.  I never would have heard him last night between the tv and the air conditioners running but at 10:00 a.m. everyone has pretty much gone to work so the house is pretty quiet.  Following the sounds, I realized quite quickly that it was coming from inside the house and it was my poor little boy.  When I opened the door to the closet, there he was looking all confused -- he had no idea what he'd done to deserve being shut up in "kitty jail" all night!  I would never lock him in a closet no matter what he'd done or how bad he'd been but he seemed to think he'd been REALLY bad!  I scooped him up and gave him hugs and kisses all the while telling him how sorry I was and what a good boy he was -- he'd pulled stuff off the shelves but after all that time, he never messed in the closet! -- and took him in the kitchen so he could have his breakfast.  Poor little guy was starving after his ordeal!  He gobbled his breakfast down, took a long drink of water and then came over and laid down at my feet as if to apologize for being a bad boy!  Well, that was all it took -- I was a mess!  I picked him up, cuddled the daylights out of him and bawled my eyes out -- and he never tried to get away, even tho mama was getting his fur all wet!  It took a huge effort to put his ear drops in this morning -- I felt like I was punishing him all over again! -- but he was so contrite that he never made a sound and never struggled, just let me put the drops in without a single complaint, which just made me feel even worse!  Unfortunately, I had my hair appointment this morning so I had to leave him but we've been snuggling all day to make up for his being locked in that closet!  Now I'm going to be even more vigilant about making sure he's not in a closet before I close it!

Some more pix of my sweet little boy.

He's just so darned cute and the camera just loves him -- almost as much as I do!  Here's two of his favorite nap spots.  Right now he's on top of the wall unit again!

Smile!

Duncan has a problem with furballs but, unlike my Sybil, he doesn't seem to like olive oil.  I used to give her a tablespoon of Bertolli Extra Virgin LIGHT Tasting Olive Oil every day -- she was definitely fussy and that was the ONLY olive oil she liked! -- and that stopped the problem of her yakking all over the place but Duncan does like Petromalt so he gets a little blob in his bowl every day.  I went to fill it today and realized he'd left me a smiley face!  Such a talented little boy!
